Chilly days and snow-covered landscapes have arrived in Osoyoos, but there is no reason to fear the cold.
We are encouraging you not to feel the need to hibernate this winter, but rather embrace it.
In order to help you do that, we have compiled a list of activities that can keep you socializing and entertained through the winter, while also staying comfortable. We’re firm believers in taking advantage of all the seasonal offerings as they only come around at this time of year!
Here’s our guide for celebrating some of the things Osoyoos has to offer this season while keeping cozy vibes and warm feelings at the forefront.
Warm Up with Hot Apple Cider at JoJo’s Cafe
Nothing quite says cozy like a hot drink in the wintertime.
This season, JoJo’s will be serving up hot apple ciders to synchronize with the South Okanagan Fire & Ice Festival and it is a drink that is sure to warm the soul.
You might also consider a Peppermint Latte, which always gives off a perfect seasonal vibe.
Sample Seasonal Beers at North Basin
There is something about a cold seasonal beer that seems to provide warmth for the whole body.
Gather that perfect group of friends and stop in at Osoyoos’ only brewery to test out what is on tap this season.
For the best ‘cozy’ winter taste, we suggest a stout or an IPA.
Treat Yourself at Levia Wellness Spa
The weather may be cold and frigid outside, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be fully relaxed and loose inside.
Winter is the perfect time to treat yourself to a spa day at Levia Wellness Spa.
This month, start with an organic raw sugar & salt foot and leg scrub with a steamy towel compress to keep that body cozy. Then, drift away while all tension melts and your body gets a tune-up by stimulating the reflex points in your feet using a soothing locally made foot balm.
Also, how can you not be cozy when donning one of the robes available to you during your treatment?
Find a New Game at Level Up
Winter is the best time of year to sit inside and socialize over a board game.
Why not add to your collection for this season and find your next favourite game at Level Up Games?
This shop along Main Street has everything a gamer could want from card games to board games and anything in between.
Talk to the owner at Level Up, get some advice in order to find your game and take it home for an evening of fun in front of your fireplace.
Cook S’mores at Covert Farms
Chocolate, marshmallows and Graham Crackers? Sign us up!
Covert Farms is keeping its communal campfires going and this winter, they will have s’mores on hand!
Get the family together and have a cookout that could include smokies, hot dogs and of course, the aforementioned iconic fireside dessert.
Visit the farm on Nov. 26-27 and Dec. 3-4 as Covert Farms is participating in the annual Winter in Wine Country festival. As part of the event, there will be charcuterie boards, a beverage line-up featuring flight tastings, mulled wine and hot chocolate; festive decor, twinkling lights, holiday music on play and more! Those who take part in our toy drive by bringing a wrapped children’s gifts or non-perishable food item will receive a free winter beverage.
Devour Cinnamon Treats from Lake Village Bakery
Cinnamon is certainly cinn-onymous with this season.
Keep an eye on the ever-changing offerings from Lake Village Bakery and make sure to grab a cinnamon-based item to enjoy with your morning coffee.
The above creation, Almond-Apricot Cinnamon Buns, is just one example of the tasty treats that are being whipped up by the bakery. We feel cozy and hungry just looking at it.
Sip Gluhwein at The Osoyoos Artisan Christmas Market
A winter market isn’t complete without Gluhwein (mulled wine).
That is exactly what you will find at this year’s Osoyoos Artisan Christmas Market. It is the perfect drink to warm you up while doing some festive holiday shopping.
The market is getting a glow-up this year with over 25 vendors, a tasting garden and a fully-licensed event area — which will not only feature Gluhwein but include beer, wine and other hot beverages. Live entertainment is being added to this year’s festivities, with seasoned performers such as Lyndsey Wong and the Mistletones as well — performing a mix of classic Christmas carols and contemporary arrangements. How do you stay cozy while taking in the festivities? See the header immediately above.
The 3rd Annual Osoyoos Artisan Christmas Market will be held on Dec. 2nd and 3rd. More information can be found here.
